Research Interests
I am a Professor and Chair of the Department of Molecular Neuroscience at Weizmann Institute of Science. I received my M.D. and Ph.D. from Hadassah Medical School and completed postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School.
Hornstein lab research centers around defining the mechanisms neurodegeneration, focusing on ALS, a syndrome of the human motor neuron system. We are using iPSC-derived disease-relevant brain cells, human tissues, big data, computation and multi-omics. We seek to understand the basis of neurodegeneration, develop prognostication biomarkers and therapeutics.
