Our research focuses on two main objectives. Firstly, we aim to develop small molecules that activate the mitophagy process to increase healthspan. Our goal is to uncover the mechanisms of action behind these compounds and use the information to create effective drugs for age-related diseases, such as Alzheimer’s. In addition, these drugs will allow us to study the mechanism of healthy mitophagy, particularly in the context of aging. Secondly, we investigate the regulation and coordination of iron and reactive oxygen species (ROS) at multiple levels, from the molecular to the organismal level.
