We study the behavior of proteins in the Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER). The ER is an organelle responsible for the synthesis, folding, and posttranslational protein modifications of secretory proteins. Our research interest is to understand how changes in protein homeostasis inside the cell (focusing mainly on ER proteins) contribute to the development of human diseases in general and Cancer in particular. We mainly focus on how ER resident proteins change their location within the cell and how this change of “address” makes them acquire new functions that increase cancer cells’ resistance.
