Research Interests
My research focuses on the Jews of Syria, Egypt, and Palestine during the Middle Ages and Early Modern period. I investigate various aspects of their lives, including community structures, interfaith relations, and literary works. The study encompasses both Rabbanite and Karaite Jews, with a particular emphasis on the Karaite communities in Cairo, Damascus, and Jerusalem. A significant part of my research involves analyzing previously unexamined Hebrew and Arabic documents from the Cairo Genizah to reconstruct the lives of these Jewish communities in the aforementioned regions.
