We aim to understand the algorithms that humans use to learn and make decisions. We are particularly interested in how these algorithms generate subjective experiences such as emotions, moods, and conscious goals, and how they predispose us to behave in adaptive or pathological ways. We use a range of methods, in particular computational modeling of empirical data that we collect using behavioral experiments in the lab, online, or via the lab’s phone app, in combination with neural and physiological monitoring.
