My main field of study is radiation physics, including two complementary lines of activity: (1) new detection concepts in nuclear, particle and astroparticle physics; (2) new ideas in radiation therapy. My two leading projects are the NEXT experiment, searching for neutrinoless double beta decay in Xe-136, and Diffusing alpha-emitters Radiation Therapy (DaRT) – a revolutionary new method for treating tumors with alpha particles. Additional projects include R&D on new noble-liquid detectors (e.g., for dark matter experiments) and on fast-neutron and gamma imaging techniques.
