Research Interests
My work focuses on the cellular copper cycle. The knowledge gained by studying the copper cycle in eukaryotic and prokaryotic systems is then used to develop new biomarkers and therapeutic agents that are dependent on the copper cycle. I believe that a basic understanding of the chemical and biological systems is essential for developing the next generation of biomarkers and drugs that will be adopted in the clinic. My group utilizes various spectroscopic (EPR, NMR, and CD) and computational methods to resolve cellular metal transfer mechanisms in vitro and in cell at the molecular level.
