Our major long-term research program concerns the study of electric conduction from a binary electrolyte solution into a charge-selective solid, such as an ion-exchange membrane or electrode. Our main finding is that this conduction becomes unstable when the electrolyte concentration near the interface approaches zero due to diffusion limitation.
