The group focuses on developing dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) techniques for materials that are not currently being studied with nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR).

DNP is a method of enhancing the NMR signal by irradiating on electron spins, and then observing nuclear spins. It can be thought of as a mixture between NMR and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR).

We also work on understanding the DNP process, identifying the DNP mechanisms active in various samples, and using that to improve the DNP enhancement.
