Our research interests are focused on exploring the role of membrane proteins in mediating and controlling metabolic communication between cells and organs as well as immuno-metabolic processes. Our focus lies in the mechanism and function of ion and metabolite membrane transporters and receptors in the intestine, kidney, liver, brain, and gut. In particular, we study how impaired function of membrane proteins hampers key metabolic communication pathways leading to idiopathic diseases including inflammatory bowel diseases, cancer, cardiovascular and renal diseases and epilepsy.
