Research Interests
Microorganisms are never solitary and have always engaged in various forms of interaction. These interactions have significant effects on the microorganisms involved and their environment.
In the ocean, interactions between microalgae and heterotrophic bacteria shape entire ecosystems.
To better understand the mechanisms behind algal-bacterial interactions and their role in the environment, our group develops laboratory model systems and interdisciplinary approaches to study the ecophysiology of microbial interactions.
