Research Interests
Our research group is interested in the molecular mechanisms important for the development and metastasis of cancer, especially those involved in cancer cell resistance and survival in response to DNA damage upon stress and chemotherapy. We also focus on identifying functional micropeptides encoded by small reading frames on the messenger RNA (mRNA). This is a new paradigm, and our research group is among the pioneers in the field. We discovered a uORF-encoded peptide that functions as a kinase inhibitor. This is applied to new treatments for invasive breast cancer and other tumors
