The lab focus is mainly events in cancer development, focusing on the DNA damage response, which includes checkpoint activation and DNA repair. Cells rapidly response to DNA damage; cell cycle progression is halted in order to provide time for DNA repair. Failure in DNA damage response activation may result in genomic instability which is a hallmark of cancer cells. Our research focuses on how DNA damage is regulated and how impaired responses lead to cancer development.
