My research explores how literature, film, popular history, and commercial culture shape perceptions of reality in relation to political events and social crises. I’ve written on the idea that certain violent histories are deemed “unspeakable,” and on how changing media and global politics influence cultural responses to violence. My current work examines representations of computer culture from the rise of the personal computer in the 1980s to the emergence of Web 2.0.
